Romeo Accursi was described by the "Journal of Monaco" in one review as a pupil of Rossini, and in several as nephew of Donizetti. In fact, he had received his first musical knowledge at Donizetti's knee. He was the son of Michele Accursi, a friend and close associate of Donizetti.
