Speranza
The casino itself was a very ordinary structure. There was a concert hall, which was comfortable, where M. Romeo conducted an orchestra twice daily, from 2 to 4 in the afternoon and 8 to 10 in the evening. Unlucky gamblers during these hours could at least seek solace if not forgetfulness amidst the strains of Herold, Meyerbeer, Gounod, and Rossini.
