Speranza
CATULLUS, Gaius Valerius (87-54 B. C.).
--- One of the greatest Roman lyric poets, and also one the greatest love poets of all time.
Leaving his birthplace of Verona, he became a shining light, wayward and passionate, in the sophisticated intellectual circles of Rome.
His output includes many pieces of a stercoraceous and coprophilous nature, but predominantly he is the poet of passion.
