Il "Narcisso" di Cellini
Cellini's sculptoric group, "APOLLO E GIACINTO", is paired with a statue of NARCISO in a poem addressed in 1557 to GUIDO GUIDI, in which Cellini alludes to his 'homosocial' susceptibilities and to the 'si bel volto':
d'APOLLO e 'l suo GIACINTO e'l bel NARCISO
mi fu modello e di PERSEO ancora.
The 'bel volto' appears to be that of Cellini's pupil, Fernando da MONTEPULCIANO.
