Cellini's "NARCISO" is a succesful work.
Cellini made a small-scale model of it, and then carved the statue from the block of Greek marble originally ordered for the GANIMEDE.
"I found that the block had TWO HOLES penetraing
over a quarter of a braccio and two fingers wide."
"THIS led me to choose the ATTITUDE seen in my state,
avoiding the wholes and keeping my figure away from them.
The statue broke above the breast of Narciso.
"I rejoined the piece, and in order that the break should not be seen I made a garland of flowers on the chest."
