Speranza
Pietro Aretino, Antonio Beccadelli (author of "L'Ermafrodito"), and Andrea Poliziano (composer of the 'homosexual' "L'Orfeo") all wrote 'gay' verse, often in Latin, about a male's attraction to another male. Some verses were pretty bawdy. Other verses, notably the hundred 'homosexual' sonnets by Benedetto Varchi, were encomia to 'neo-Platonic' love.
