At the battle of Cascina, some Florentine soldiers were taken by surprise WHILE BATHING in the Arno in San Savino, near Cascina.
Their commander gave a FALSE ALARM, in order to persuade them of the need always to be prepared.
Their subsequent victory seemed to bear him out.
