Speranza
The statue was found in 1622 near the Palazzo Santa Croce in the rione di CAMPITELLI, during the digging of a drain. It was purchased by the LUDOVISI and displayed in their palazzo, "Palazzo Grande", on the Pincio.
Later, it was displayed in a "Casino" in the gardens of their estate, which had been transformed into a 'museum'.
In 1885 the statue was translated to the palazzo of the Ludovisi on the Via Veneto, built for the Prince of PIOMBINO (the inherited title of the Ludovisi descendants).
It was bought by the government of Italy in 1901, and translated to PALAZZO ALTEMPS.
