The group is first recorded in 1556 as being in the 'giardino delle statue' in Villa Cesi.

The Cesi gave the group to LUDOVISI in 1622.

In 1633, the Ludovisi displayed it in the "BOSCO delle statue".

Later, in 1800, brought indoors to the "Casinetto" in the villa.
