Torso d'Eracle, Belvedere -- found at Piazza SS Apostoli in Palazzo Colonna, Roma, 1530.

Possibly the torso of Aiace, contemplating suicide.
Ercole or Marsia have also been suggested.

Height: 1.57m, Width: 90cm.

Copy of a marble statue.

The statue is known as the Belvedere Torso.

It is a version of an original of about 200 BC.

It is signed by the 1st century BC copyist Apollonios, son of Nestor of Athens.

It was found in Roma, at Piazza SS Apostoli in Palazzo Colonna, in 1530.

It is now in Rome, Musei Vaticani, Atrio del Torso, inv. 1192.
