Aeŏlus, i, m., = Αἴολος.

I The god of the winds, son of Jupiter (or Hippotas) and of Menalippa, ruler of the islands between Italy and Sicily, where he kept the winds shut up in caverns, and, at the bidding of Jupiter, let them loose or recalled them, Verg. Eolo is the god of the wind.

He is the son of GIOVE (or HIPPOTAS) and of MENALIPPA.

EOLO is the ruler of the island (or islands) between Italia and Sicilia, where Eolo keeps the winds shut up in caverns, and, at the bidding of GIOVE, lets them loose or recalls them.
