Davenport's Eastwood Farms: from Capt. Morris's Creek to the East Haven River

Nestled along the southern tip of East Haven, Connecticut, New England, Long Island Sound, is the beach community of Momauguin, bordered, to the west, by the neighbourhood of Morris Cove in New Haven and, to the east, by the Short Beach in Branford.

This lovely area is rich in colonial history and its desirable shore line appeal enjoyed by both its year round and seasonal residents.  

Momauguin is named for Sachem Momauguin, chief of the Quinnipiac, a native Indian Tribe, as Sarah Hughes explains us in her "History of East Haven". 

 

If you’re looking for a direct beach-front or water-front home, vacation property, Momauguin has a unique blend of single homes, seasonal cottages, and bungalows. 

Many have deeded beach rights.  

The appeal of the Momauguin area is very strong.

There are distinct neighbourhoods.

From west to east: Morgan Point (including Shell Beach and Old Town Landing), Silver Sands, Cosey Beach, and Mansfield Grove. 

The four neighbourhoods are found within the Momauguin area. 

Morgan Point, with its panoramic views of Long Island Sound and New Haven Harbour borders the Lighthouse Point and Capt. Morris's Cove in New Haven.  

This is where you will find some of the more exclusive direct waterfront homes: Shell Beach and Old Town Landing.

To the east is the neighborhood of Silver Sands with its wonderful choice of home styles, and the Silver Sands Beach Club.  

Silver Sands is also home to The Village at Mariner’s Point, which holds the annual vintage car parade.

To the east, for all of your recreational needs  Cosey Beach is home to the East Haven's beach, and pavilion.

Two of the most popular stops are the Sandpiper and the Beach Head restaurants where you’ll enjoy some of the best seafood fare around. 

Cosey Beach is the go to place for the annual fireworks display.  

It is the highlight of the summer as East Haven celebrates with a full day of activities on the beach with live music and entertainment.

Finally, to the east, and as it bordering the Short Beach area of Branford is the very desirable Mansfield Grove beach neighbourhood,  an excellent area for hiking, canoeing,  kayaking and birding as the East Haven River enters the Long Island Sound.
