John Thompson Spencer's summer cottage on Ruggles Avenue, Newport, New England.

Speranza

This is a Colonial Revival house completed in 1890.
Designed by the famed architectural firm of Peabody & Stearns, it served as the main residence for the Althorpe estate.
Built for John Thompson Spencer, a prominent Philadelphia lawyer, the structure incorporates formal Georgian details with the informal ambience of a seaside villa.
