The church of San Simeone piccolo is familair to every visitor to Venice for it is the first building along the Grand Canal to catch the eye on arrival by trai.

The church was built by Giovanni Scalfarotto in 1718, and combined a neo-classic portico, like that of a Roman temple, with a sculptured pediment and a dome in the Byzantine style.
