Grice e Luciano:
il cinargo romano -- Roma – filosofia italiana – Luigi Speranza (Roma). Filosofo italiano. He studied at Rome with
Nigrino -- whom some suspect to be his
invention – and Albino, of the Accademia. Also influenced by Demonax, whose
philosophical outlook was more eclectic, although he is generally regarded as a
Cinargo. Luciano is famous for his essays and dialogues, mostly satirical, many
of which have survived. A number of philosophers appear in them, although not
all of them may have existed. As a satirist, he is more interested in mocking
pomposity and exposing hypocrisy than in advocating any positive doctrine.
Loeb. Luciano.
