THE PALACES which THEODORIC erected at Terracina, Ravenna, Verona, and Pavia, were built by Italian architects who were ignorant of any other style of architecture than that one which was based upon the ROUND ARCH, and imitated the OLD ROMAN BUILDINGS as far as their inferior skill would allow.
