THE FRESCOES by Giovanni Antonio FASOLO and Battista ZELOTTI for the central hall and rooms of the VILLA CALDOGNO (1565)

Speranza

These are beautiful things.

The villa was, as expectedly, designed by PALLADIO.

It was owned by LOSCO CALDOGNO, an aristocrat and silk merchant from Vicenza who had inherited an agricultural complex and fields in CALDOGNO the year before.

The thing was completed by LOSCO CALDOGNO's son, ANGELO CALDOGNO.

The frescoes include:

THE BANQUET
INVITATION TO DANCE
THE CONCERT
THE CARD GAME
CCIPIONE
SOFONISBA receiving poison.
