Speranza
The fourth and final room is dedicated to the depiction of the love of RINALDO and ARMIDA, as described in CANTOS XIV and XVI of Tasso's GERUSALEMME LIBERATA.
The events of the two lovers are enclosed in simple but extremely elegant Rococo-style frames that heighten the theatrical nature of the text.
In the FIRST compartment, opposite the entrance door, the sleeping RINALDO is abducted by the sorceress, who transports him on her chariot to the FORTUNATE ISLES.
There, ARMIDA falls in love with RINALDO but the two lovers are discovered by UBALDO and GUELFO, who have been sent by GOFFREDO to find RINALDO.
In the third and fourth compartments, RINALDO, urged on by UBALDO is ashamed as having gone astray.
In the final compartment, he decvides to return to his commitments as a warrior, abandoning the weeping ARMIDA.
