Alberti Cherubino: figurative Engravings
This is a 1577 engraving from Alberti Cherubino (1553-1615) an Italian artist and printmaker.

The website of  Spaightwood Galleries, quoting from the The Grove Dictionary of Art notes that Alberti Cherubino studied in Rome "with Cornelius Cort, whose swelling burin line he adopted to create pictorial effects of strong chiaroscuro."

And after 1575, "during the next ten years he reached the height of his fame as a print-maker, producing engravings after Raffaello, Michel Angelo, Polidoro da Caravaggio, and of ancient Roman statues."

"His prints of Polidoro are particularly valued as documents of lost works."
