Speranza
Cyparissus, son of Telephus, lived on Chios and was remarkably handsome.
Apollor, or again Zeffiro, falls in love with Cyparissus.
Cyparissus keeps a pet stag but one day, while hunting, accidentally kills it.
Afterward Cyparissus is so distraught that he begs the gods to kill him and allow him to mourn for all eternity.
Indeed, Cyparissus dies, and is transformed into the tree that bears his name: the cypress.
