The "David" is pulled in at least two different directions.
The sideways twist of his head is so sharp, and the gaze is so intent, that it almost feels as if David has left the rest of his body behind for us to dwell on unobserved.
David's body has scarcely even begun to turn to follow his eyes.
Only David's left foot has started to twist around.

As a result, we are invited to feast our eyes on a fully exposed male torso.
