L'Apollo del Belvedere -- male nude -- Apollo pizio -- a calm and poised demeanour -- an exquisite rendition of elegance in action.

Speranza

The most famous statue in the world: the L'Apollo pizio, detto del Belvedere.
This statue is a Roman copy of a Greek original from the 4th century BC.

"L'Apollo pizio, detto del Belvedere" stands in the 'cortile delle statue' of Villa Bel-Vedere (or did).

The statue depicts Apollo, just after
he has let fly an arrow that will kill Pitone, a monstrous serpent that
lived near Delphi.

(For this reason, it is also known as 'Apollo pizio').

THE WONDER of this is:

Apollo is NOTcaptured in a moment of tense activity, as one would suspect.

Rather, Apollo maintains a calm and poised demeanour.

Even the folds of his cape, while realistically depicted, are remarkably unruffled.

This statue is an exquisite rendition of elegance in action.
