Michelangelo's "DAVID" is a statue which, "paradoxically, nobody alive today has seen"

When in 1873, the "David" was moved to the tribune of the Accademia, it was put in limited space, so that each of its component elements looks GROTESQUELY large, and in a rotunda where the wall surface and moulding DESTROY its silhouette.
