Speranza

The ephebes's gymnasium at Thera is of considerable interest.

It contains a grotto, covered with engraved texts: felicitations composed by erastai and addressed to their eromenoi.

Some of the more obscene of tehse inscriptions have much diverted Hellenists.

Several of them mention the 'gallantry' of the eromenoi, such as their 'gallantry' at dance.
