Ho questa frase:

La guida segnala questo ristorante.

Mi viene in mente "report" pero' non sono affatto sicuro.

The guide reports this restaurant.

Io userei to mention. Un madrelingua saprà trovare di meglio.


If you want to imply that the guide has a positive report, you could say:

The guide suggests this restaurant.

The guide recommends this restaurant.


Other neutral choices:

The guide has a review/report on this restaurant.

The guide mentions the restarant. This is also neutral.

Anche "reccomend" suona bene.

In effetti a seconda della sfumatura che si vuole dare userei "mention" o "reccomend".

Signalize assolutamente non è una parola. Almeno, non va usata.

"recommend" e' la piu' indicata.

"To mention" significa solo "menzionare" ed ha quasi un valore dispregiativo, come a dire, the guide _mentions_ it, but doesn't *recommend* it.

"That restaurant was mentioned in Zagat's. That club was mentioned in Time Out."

Non ha nessun valore dispregiativo, dobbiamo saperne di più, ma può anche avere un valore positivo.

"Hey, that restaurant was mentioned in this year's Michelin guide!"

Ci sono tante guide dove solo "a mention" è già un onore.

Senzo contesto, è semplicemente neutrale.

Depending on context, it can have a negative nuance that the Italian "segnalare" (in this sense!) never has. Sei d'accordo?


I 100% agree that the best translation of "segnalare" is recommended (which is confusing for Italians, I know). Mentioned can be a rather "meh" term.
