The Apollo del Belvedere, a Roman copy of a Greek bronze of the 4th century B. C., was considered the MOST PERFECT example of Greek art handed down to us (thanks to the Roman copyist) -- at least until the 1970s, when a scuba diver found the two original Greek bronzes known as the "Riace Bronzes" (the originals are now in a museum in Reggio Calabria).
