Minos and Miletus

Speranza

Antoninus Liberalis writes:

Apollo and Akakallis had a child named Miletus."

Fearing the anger of Minos, her father, Akakallis exposed Miletus in the forst.

On orders of Apollo, she-wolves came to protect and suckle the infant.

Later, some ox-drivers found the child, took him in, and raised him as their own.

Miletus grew up into a strong and handsome young man.

Minos, seized with desire for him, wanted to take him by violence.

But Miletus sailed off, and he reached a place which he called "Miletus".
