François Léon Sicard: "Edipo e la sfinge", 1903, bronze.

Speranza 70cm., 27½in. DESCRIPTION signed: F Sicard and inscribed F. BARBEDIENNE. Fondeur. Sicard exhibited a cast of "Edipo e la sfinge" in plain bronze at the Salon of 1903. It was subsequently acquired by the state and is now in the Musée d'Orsay. The work was also edited in biscuit by Sèvres. Sicard studied under Barrias and Félix Laurent. Sicard won the Prix de Rome in 1891 and a gold medal at the Exposition Universelle in 1900.
