Siege of Dyrrhachium: Caear pinned Pompeo's army to the coast by an encircling line of fortifications: but these were incomplete at the point where they reached the sea-shore. Pompeo attacked this point from land and sea simultaneously and won a success which caused Caesar to abandon his attempt at encirclement.
