Originally from Trier, Ambrose is usually associated with Milan where he |

became bishop in AD 374 and died in AD 397. He wrote a major work on ethics, |
|
On the Duties of Priests, which relies heavily on the On Duties of Cicero. In it he |
|
discusses Christian ethics with special reference to the clergy. |
