Grice
e Persio: la filosofia nel principato di Nerone – TREASEA CONTRO LA TIRANNIA –
Roma – filosofia italiana – Luigi Speranza (Roma). He is best known as a satirical poet,
but he studies philosophy under Luccio Anneo Cornuto, to whom he wrote a
tribute and to whom he leaves his works on his death. A strong belief in the
value of the ethics of the PORTICO lies beneath much of his satire. He is a
friend of Trasea Peto (vide RENSI – TRASEA CONTRO LA TIRANNIA), and is related
to him by marriage. Through this connection, Persio becomes associated with the
PORTICO opposition to Nerone – but he dies before Nerone can take action
against him. Ed. Broad, Loeb. Flacco Aulo Persio
